summer is here :)

yesterday was one of those days where i felt truly blessed to be a vancouverite. such a beautiful day…. as i sat on spanish banks with susan and kristin, i wondered about the first people who discovered that beach. and then i started thinking about all of the other crap that came along when european explorers decided to take that land away. ownership is an amazing thing…. only a messed up mind (culture?) could ever think up such a crazy concept.

i’d like to think that i am very fortunate that my grandparents decided to move to canada 50 years ago. i’d also like to try to be a better stuart of this land that has been loaned to us.

i have more pictures of yesterday here.

ps: go canucks

“we can only get healthier”…

never have i felt so good about a terrible loss. wow- those canucks were great tonight. yeah, we had a few shortcomings, but at the end of the day- those guys rock. the ducks really tried to beat us down and we came back with class, style, and attitude.

anaheim is going to keep playing this way. luongo is only going to get better at understanding how they shoot. our guys are going to get better at reading their plays. salo, bieksa, cooke, and kes are going to get healthy. we are going to annihilate them.

go canucks.

what a great team to love.

stanley park

my family is visiting vancouver this past week and on sunday i took my brother out to see stanley park. it doesn’t matter how many times i visit the park, every time i see what the storm did i feel devastated. you can not stand beside a huge root system, which is probably 10 times older than our city, that has been uprooted and turned on its side by the wind and not feel incredible awe.

interesting how a storm can put things into perspective. we are so small yet our impact can be so big.

guess who’s back

so linden saves the day once more. awesome. way to be a captain and lead with veteran experience. and, what a classy player. i mean, the guy could have scored on the empty net to give himself a clear lead on the NHL’s most goals scored in a game-7 stats, but instead he shares the wealth and gives smolinsky the goal. class.i am so happy with the performance of our team right now- and even happier that they are just that: A TEAM.

like i said: trevor linden for mayor.

don’t get me wrong, i’ll agree with pratt and say that louie is probably the most exciting athlete in vancouver. ever. bobby lou is a huge part of the reason why we are here at the moment, but how about that team effort today?

how about that good canadian (BC) kid, willie mitchell- heh, now i see what modano was crying about. i love your hockey stick, dude. the rest of vancouver does as well. bulis is starting to be less boo-ful and more boo-less. hooray for our captain finally pulling through, and even on a night when the twins line didn’t produce on the scoresheet, i have nothing to complain about. wooo-hooo.

so, the city has got playoff fever, most more awesome than not…check out this video, it made me laugh. thanks uncle geoff for the heads up! this one not so much.

go canucks.
