on blogging and such

this evening i have decided to take a more involved approach to my blogerness. many things brought me to this decision, some of which are:

- today i was going through and updating my field journal for the archaeology field school. its pretty amazing what you can forget in a couple days. its even more amazing how much information you can keep (remember?) when you write for 20 minutes each day.

- my dad and mom are on a road trip right now and mom keeps updating her facebook profile with photos from each day. i find myself thinking about them and anticipating the days photos throughout my day.

- lately i have been thinking about my blog, wondering if it is too public. wondering why i would want the world to know what i am up to. but is blogging (although public) really for the public? or is it kind of a log of ideas and memories that one can use to reflect on the past, make decisions for the future, and evaluate successes in ones own life?

mom and dad are in new york right now. today they visited MoMA. they were able to see so many crazy works from some pretty super star artists…. just looking at mom’s photos inspires me.

i think i want to explore form and function more. when frank lloyd wright talked about organics in 1908 it ment something. i am afraid that we have perverted the word these days. he talked about respect for materials and the harmonious relationship between form and function… why are we now always trying to force  things (nature, people, objects,  etc?) into boxes of idealized catagories? this product must come in a plastic, squeezable, non-drip, hypo-allergenic, yet environmentally friendly (?!?!?) package.

i want to stop being a walking oxymoron.

    Hello

A blog can be many things,
For me its a place to answer common questions that I get every day. I write them down and when people ask me a second time i just point them at the post.

It can also be a small source of income as my games site brings in around $35 a week now

It can be a journal of your life. mines private but I have written in it every third day for the last 6 years now. I don’t expect anyone to read it and i password protect it so people can’t read it.

it can also be a biography of your work, Like lindsay is suppose to be doing.
