Tonight I ate the most pretty combination of colours: green and purple. not only did they look good, but they tasted good as well. Mmmmm, yummy.

yummy purple cabbage salad

The best thing about this yummy salad: it’s suuuuper good for you!

Here’s my recipe, the measurements are all approximate and I usually change it a bit each time I make it.

1/2 head red cabbage
1 Tbsp softened extra virgin coconut oil
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
pinch kosher salt
fresh ground pepper to taste
garnish with sunflower sprouts

soak the cabbage in the oil and vinegar mixture for up to 5 days. The longer the better :)

enjoy!

Sunshine + UBC = Happy Jamie

wow! i sure feel better about life in general when it is sunny at UBC. If you saw my earlier post “Stuck in This Fog“, this photo below is taken from the same place that this one was. Amazing what the fog can do…

some more random shots on campus:

Oh, and Hugh Jackman was on Campus today- apparently they are filming some stunts for his new Wolverine movie…

Náttúra

I’m a little late at finding this gem, but here it is! Björk’s latest masterpiece, Náttúra. It’s somewhat a rally-call, major press release type thing calling for attention and activism surrounding the environment in Iceland.

It’s pretty sweet: intense drum beats that she swiped and chopped up from Brian Chippendale‘s recordings for Earth Intruder plus haunting background vocals from fellow earth crusader Thom Yorke. Björk says that she hates the emailed song collaboration  but felt so much urgency regarding the environmental crisis in Iceland that she conceded to the form from a hotel room while on tour.

Here’s a video that some dood made to go along with the new single… you get the idea.

According to the Náttúra website, “The single was composed specifically to encourage active support for the Náttúra campaign, which aims at collating and providing sustainable and eco-friendly options suitable for Iceland, and generating alternative ways to utilize it’s natural resources.”

Here’s an interview with Björk about the new single:
