i’m taking an ethnomusicology course and the topic of orientalism/occidentalism was brought up. it’s difficult being a student of decolonization theory sitting in the class where the prof is just skimming over the basics of theory for the benefit of music students… i bite my tongue. a lot.

i can’t believe that we have been on the road for over a week! we have seen and done so many things- what a trip.
this morning we left kanab, utah after an utterly hilarious night at the kitschy-est motel ever. it was called “sun-n-sand”.

today we drove from albuquerque, new mexico to flagstaff, arizona. WOW!
along the way we stopped and saw the petroglyph national monument, the el morro national monument, the pueblo of zuni, the petrified forest and the painted desert.
