just got the loonie in chilliwack bc and i must say that iam strongly against any all pipelines to the coast. I love to fish and to hunt and we already have so many things to deal with within the environment that th last thing we need is a big pipeline to the coast. I want my kids to be able to do the same things as they get older and i fear that we are being swallowed by the greed of only a few. It needs to stop and we need to take a stand.

Have you read what our constitution says about what constitutes "contempt of parliament"? Would it matter if I told you that their are no guidelines and that it just takes a simple vote in parliament to have this "charge" pass? 80% of governments since confederation have been majority governments and no opposition in a minority government has been so petty as to insist on a demand for information (both jets and jails) that doesn't exist and then call it contempt. There is always a first time for everything.

Are you aware of all the dirty tricks and lies that were put in the media daily because the media love the Liberal party and they don't think that the Conservatives have a right to govern? The committees of the senate were being used for partisan attacks and the un-elected Liberal dominated senators were holding up legislation that had passed the commons. Mr Harper used him right to ask the GG to prorogue parliament to appoint 5 senators to empty seats (his constitutional right) and have Conservatives chair the senate sub-committees instead of the Liberal ones.

Did Harper have the right to prorogue parliament for up to 1 year at any time if he chose to? Yes, that is what the constitution says he can do.

You and I might disagree on fundamental issues about how Canada should be governed but the distortions I saw here are a bit much. You need to dig a little harder if you want the real picture and you will find that no party in the commons are angels!

I have watched the CBC for at least the last 40 years. They are very biased and continuously tell Canadians what being a Canadian is. The problem is that their view doesn't represent the country we live in at all. Nobody has a monopoly on what is Canadian including me or you.

Canadians currently provide the CBC with just over $1 billion in annual subsidies. The government is asking all departments in government to provide them with a 5% reduction in expenses. That equates to $50 million from the amount sent to the CBC. The government provides no assistance to the CBC's competitors even though they all compete for the same advertising dollar. How fair is that?

Mr Harper didn't hide the fact that some cuts to funding across the government were coming and a convincing majority of Canadians gave him the mandate to implement those policies. He didn't single out the CBC or threaten to get rid of their billion dollar subsidy. He actually has the power over the next 4 years to do exactly that so let's hope the artsy types don't get into a battle that they will surely lose.
